America's "King of Beers" has usurped the Canadian lager throne

First the Stanley Cup, now this. Recently, Budweiser -- America's "King of Beers" -- usurped the Canadian lager throne, outselling both Molson Canadian and Labatt Blue in this country for the first time ever. This according to Bill Chisholm, a consumer-products analyst at Toronto-based Dundee Securities Corp., who says Budweiser has about 12 per cent of the Canadian market. "It's been the beneficiary of the trend towards lighter-tasting beers," he says, "and the growing popularity of imports."
