<p>After much speculation and anticipation, Scottish actor Peter Capaldi has been named the 12th Doctor on Dr. Who.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s so wonderful not to keep this secret any longer,&#8221; the actor said during a live reveal on BBC One.</p>
<p>Capaldi had been <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2013/aug/04/doctor-who-announcement-live-blog">a top choice of British bookmakers,</a> along with Ben Daniels, Daniel Rigby and Aneurin Barnard.</p>
<p>&#8220;Well well WELL. This is BRILLIANT NEWS,&#8221; exclaimed the Guardian&#8217;s <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2013/aug/04/doctor-who-announcement-live-blog">Stuart Heritage</a> on learning the news.</p>
