Kwantlen Polytechnic University is a welcoming and warm school that has opened its arms to local and international students. What is really special about KPU is that it is a polytechnic university so it offers lots of different courses in various subjects that deal with different vocational and technical topics. KPU offers a full range of classes and programs, along with a wonderfully inclusive community. The students and professors are there to help you make the transition from whatever walk of life you are coming from to university. Since class sizes are small, it is very easy to approach instructors for help and even easier to make friends. KPU recently opened the Wilson School of Design, a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility at KPU Richmond that opened in January 2018. KPU is also opening a brand-new campus at Surrey’s city centre.

Extras
A wonderful addition to KPU is the acupuncture diploma program. This program is run out of the Richmond campus. Students learn about traditional Chinese medicine. What is really cool is that the diploma program establishes a school of traditional Chinese medicine. As mentioned before, we have a shiny new building. The Wilson School of Design hosts all of our fashion and design offerings, including programs focused on graphics, interiors, products and technical apparel. Another KPU extra is that the university pays a lot of attention to sustainability. Through the sustainable agriculture and good systems program, students are able to use both classroom and farm-based learning to find ecologically sound, economically viable and socially just manners of producing food. These students also grow food that you can purchase!

Local Vibe
KPU is spread over 45 km and covers three different municipalities with diverse communities. And because of this, there are so many communities and places for students to explore. If you are at the Richmond campus, you are a five-minute walk from the Canada Line SkyTrain, which can take you to downtown Vancouver or connect you with other places in the area. If you are at the Surrey campus, there are lots of buses that can take you to the various hiking destinations, lakes, parks, shopping malls and coffee shops that your heart may desire!
