Campus Eats: University of Regina

Filled up for $11 at Henderson Cafe

The 2013 Maclean’s University Rankings includes an examination of the dining on Canadian campuses. We found healthier options than ever, but also a new problem—high prices.

Maclean’s On Campus is continuing the conversation by having students review food on their campuses and showing what it costs to dine.

If you’re a student, you can help. Send us a review of an eatery at your school. Keep your receipts. If we publish it, we’ll reimburse you.

The latest Campus Eats review is by Colton Hordichuk at the University of Regina.

Henderson Cafe
Five out of five stars
Total Price: $10.90

Henderson Cafe, an independent business better known as Hendy’s, has grown over the years. It even added a second location, and it’s easy to see why. Its made-on-the-spot wraps and sandwiches make this business is an absolute butt-kicker when it comes to flavor, quality, and price.

For dinner, I ordered the signature Chicken Caesar Wrap, a monster cookie and a chicken club salad. The first thing I noticed about the wrap was that Hendy’s doesn’t hold back on the ingredients. Loaded with savory chicken, bacon bits, croutons, lettuce, Parmesan cheese, and dressing, I got far more than my money’s worth. Due to my fairly large appetite, it didn’t fill me.

That made the Chicken Club Salad necessary. The freshly-made side salad included pieces of real bacon, chicken, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce. I like how they don’t over-complicate their salads.

My desert, a homemade monster cookie, was the perfect finish to this five-star student meal.

The bill:
Chicken Caesar Wrap: $5.99
Chicken Club Salad: $3.41
Monster cookie: $1.50
Total: $10.90
