Campus Lockdown at Sheridan College

Greater Toronto Area Polytechnic Institute locked down on the same day as US college shooting

Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario is presently locked down following reports of a gunman on campus.

Police received reports of a man with a long gun who was seen ducking into a building on campus.

A man was arrested and taken into custody by police but released this afternoon.

The campus remains locked down. Tactical teams from the Halton Regional Police and neighbouring police services are sweeping the campus classroom-to-classroom. Students are being escorted off-campus by police officers.

A statement on the college website states: “Please be advised that Sheridan’s TRAFALGAR campus is currently in an emergency lockdown situation,” it reads. “Emergency services personnel have been contacted. The situation is under investigation. Normal operations are suspended, do not proceed to the campus.”
