Ontario uni prez contract chart updated

I’ve updated the presidential contract chart to include contracts for Executive Heads of OCAD and Queen’s.

I’m going to be adding contracts across the country in the near future.

  1. You know Joe, all this coverage of presidential contracts is very interesting, but only to a point. I would like to see the same level of energy targeted towards seeing how much some of our universities’ top unionized bureaucrats are paid. Those employees who are completely unknown, yet are very highly-paid for work of unclear purpose or use. And there are a lot of them in any given school.

By only focusing on presidents you’re simply playing along with the traditional “direct all rage towards the top of the hierarchy” game, as if the people at the top are the only ones who deserve to be held accountable. But it’s the easiest thing in the world to take a pot-shot at a president. No one ever takes pot shots are bureaucrats because they’re the truly powerful people with the truly powerful allies. You have to be quite brave to take them on.

  2. J.J.: I am not sure who you are referring to as “top unionized bureaucrats” in universities. If you look at Ontario (where all university employees earning over $100,000 are covered by the salary disclosure act), well, I’ve done the exercice at the University of Ottawa, and these highest salaries are the president, vice-presidents and deans (all managerial, i.e. non-unionized), and then it comes to the tenured profs with the highest seniority (slightly above $100,000, compared to $150,000 to $250,000 for deans/vice-presidents).
