  1. For the uninitiated, the going rate on a professional design of a website of that scale is 5,000-20,000, and can be done well on the cheap for closer to 1,000.

Suffice to say, 165k is more than a little bit ridiculous. Apparently it’s not just at the federal level of government where people with little knowledge of technology are making policy decisions about it (this is where I plug Fair Copyright for Canada, or even just http://www.michaelgeist.ca )

  2. what makes this more stupid is that the wilfred laurier students union stole control over ancillary fees this past year. http://www.cordweekly.com/cordweekly/myweb.php?hls=10034&news_id=1479

Wonder where that $160,000 came from? There’s your answer. Oh, and the other $160,000 for renovations to other parts of campus.

That said, as a former wlusu volunteer it’s about f***ing time they re-design that site. Just dont think it needs $160k worth of work.
