51-year-old model beats out teens on the catwalk

No Botox, and she gets about as much exercise as Churchill

51-year-old Inès de La Fressange stole the show from her younger colleagues at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2009 haute couture show last week. Fressange, a French national icon, and the first model ever to sign an exclusive haute-couture contract—with Chanel in the eighties—took two turns down Gaultier’s runway. Fashion models “are not just 14-year-olds,” Mr. Gaultier said later. “There are no barriers to beauty.” Fressange’s 14-year-old daughter, Nine, who watched the show with her younger sister Violette, told reporters her mom was nervous.
