U.S group calls for killer whale’s death by stoning

An American religious group is calling for Tillikum—the five-ton killer whale that killed its SeaWorld trainer, Dawn Brancheau, last week in Orlando—to be stoned to death. On its website, the American Family Association writes: “Says the ancient civil code of Israel, ‘When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten.'” Referring to the whale’s drowning of another trainer in 1991, the AFA adds: “If the counsel of the Judeo-Christian tradition had been followed, Tillikum would have been put out of everyone’s misery back in 1991.” This week, shows featuring Tillikum began again at SeaWorld. However, safety has been ramped up: trainers will no longer be permitted in the water with the whales. The AFA is also calling for the theme park’s head whale trainer to be stoned.
