Al Qaeda leader dies in a firefight at his compound in Pakistan

Nearly 10 years after the September 11 attacks, terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden has been killed by covert U.S. forces operating in northwestern Pakistan. Bin Laden, who has been the world’s most wanted man since 9/11, had his body buried at sea, according to U.S. official. The attack on the al Qaeda’s leader’s compound in Abbottabad began Sunday with U.S. forces launching a helicopter-borne assault. Three other men were killed along with Bin Laden in a firefight that lasted 40 minutes. A woman, who may have been one of Bin Laden’s wives, was also killed.

  1. Glad they riddled him with bullets. Hope he suffered. Too bad there wasn't a public hanging. I hope they kept his head. It would look great on a pike displayed on the White House lawn.

  2. When this story first came out, it was that Bin Laden had been found “in a mansion in an Islamabad suburb” now it’s a “compound” in “Northwestern Pakistan” (aka outskirts of Islamabad…)

    Why this word propaganda??

    • Pakistan has been denying his existence within their borders for some time, claiming he was in a cave in Afghanistan. How the forces that be choose to gild this thing will point to how they will be working things going forward. The Pakistani airforce was involved, therefore they knew what was up. They made a conscious choice not to blow the mission or warn Osama. What inducements were used to achieve this? This compiound was, apparently, in a city heavily fortified by and occupied by State security forces. A large, heavily guarded compound in its midst should have been an open secret.

      • "The Pakistani airforce was involved…What inducements were used to achieve this?" maybe a US promise not to pressure them to buy F-35s?

  3. Na na na na, hey, lhey, goodbye, Pigsh*t.
The world just became a better place to live.

  4. Buried at sea ? This does not pass the sniff test .

    • I agree Gary. What are the odds a taped message will surface (no pun intended)

  5. Now that the main murderer is punished, US should go after the accessories to MURDER. They too are as guilty. The accessories are those who gave shelter to osama and his cronies, be them be presidents, generals or dimplomats. This way people will think twice before committing mass murder

  6. Why did they go through the trouble of hauling his body away only to drop it in the ocean?

    • A colleague of mine brought up a good point. If they were to bury him anywhere on land, then the burial site could become a shrine for future nut jobs. Makes sense I guess.

  7. wWell said .I agree. But I am applauding Obama and the seals, they got the job done.
