Canada: Glorious and slightly more free

Economic freedom ranks 7th in the world

Heritage Foundation’s 2009 economic-freedom rankings show Canada holding steady at seventh in the world, ahead of Denmark and behind the U.S. A reduced perception of corruption and improved competitiveness in fiscal freedom is credited for a 0.3 point jump over last year. Canada is behind world average only in expense and size of government, in part due to its substantial social welfare programs.
