New data shows the economy is roughly 30,000 jobs short of having regained all the jobs lost during recession. Statistics Canada’s new findings contradict earlier claims by the agency that employment had fully recovered from the downturn that led to 428,000 jobs lost. The initial projection was based on census data from 2001. The revised numbers are based on 2006 data, and show 398,000 jobs were created.
