Favourite for the women’s freestyle moguls places second

Jenn Heil—2006 Olympic champion and favourite for the gold in Saturday’s women’s freestyle moguls event—has won the silver medal. In first place was American Hannah Kearney who scored 26.63 while Heil scored 25.69. Canadian Kristi Richards was also in a position to earn a medal but on her last run, crashed the final jump. Speaking to a reporter just after the event, Heil said: “I won silver today. I’m really proud of my performance. I felt that I was standing on the shoulders of so many Canadians…This is Canada’s medal and I’m just so proud to be Canadian right now.”
