Crowds cheer bin Laden’s death

Thousands gathered at White House and ground zero in NYC

As news broke of Osama bin Laden’s death, shortly after 11:30 pm EST, thousands of Americans rushed to the White House in Washington, D.C. to celebrate. “I know this is kind of morbid, but it stands for a lot more,” one bystander told the Washington Post. “It’s more of a symbol of bringing closure.” Meanwhile, at ground zero in New York City, there was a similar celebration.
