Earthquake rocks Japan

As Japan remembers last month’s devastating quake, another one hits

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck northeast Japan on Monday, exactly one month after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that devastated the country and caused a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima nuclear plant. The quake’s epicenter was located in Fukushima prefecture at a depth of 10 km, and struck shortly after the country stopped for a moment of silence to remember those killed or missing in March 11 disaster. The Fukushima Daiichi plant was evacuated, while power used to pump water to three damaged reactors was briefly being cut off. TEPCO officials said the plant sustained no further damage.
