Eventually everyone will be fat?

By 2048, all American adults will be overweight if trends of the last 30 years continue, according to the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Is this alarmist, or just alarmingly possible?

  1. Any statistician worth their salt knows that variances happen at the extremes… it’s a ridiculous claim to think that a trend like that would not level out.

It certainly doesn’t pass my sniff test — but will it pass others?

  2. Well, do they mention that in sixty years, if trends continue, there would 45% more fat Americans than there are Americans?
I’ve got three kids. Does that mean when I am 160 years old I’ll have twelve?
“If trends continue” for stupidly long outlooks is, well, stupid.
