Scientists in China introduced human genes to cows
Chinese scientists have created genetically modified cows that can produce “human” milk by introducing human genes into 200 cows. Human milk has nutrients that help boost babies’ immune systems, and these scientists say the cows’ milk could provide an alternative to human breast milk and baby formula, which has been called an inferior substitute. Their research has the backing of a large biotechnology company. ”The milk tastes stronger than normal milk,” said lead researcher Ning Li, director of the State Key Laboratory for AgroBiotechnology at the China Agricultural University. ”Within 10 years, people will be able to pick up these products at the supermarket.”
