Iggy on Galloway

This is pretty much my view. Though I really would like to see the evidence that Galloway is in any way a security threat to the country:

“He can come to canada and talk rubbish all day long, as far as i’m concerned,” Ignatieff told reporters in Manitoba. “If there’s a security threat, that’s another matter. I’ve heard no evidence yet that he presents a security threat. Of course, if there is one, as a responsible public official, I will accept what the security services say on M.r Galloway.”

Iggy on Galloway

  1. Funny that!
Galloway bad – Obama / Clinton – good!
I’d have to check her recent itinary – but didn’t Hillary Clinton have some talks with the Hamas government on her recent trip – and didn’t her boss just issue a video to the people of Iran inviting them to re-enter the world stage?
Forget freedom of speech and basic human rights issues for now – talks work! And Galloway apparently has some kind of dialogue with Hamas! Let’s hear what he has to say! This Harper government has a pitiable enough Foreign Affairs record – and his current appointment Lawrence Cannon isn’t going to set the world on fire with anything innovative.
Look at what talks resulted in in Ireland..I heard Martin McGuinness (Sein Fein’s other leader) making a passionate statement for calm the other day after the two IRA splinter groups had tried to open old wounds…..

  2. I agree with the first part of Ignatieff’s comment. After all, there is no justice in denying Galloway a right Ignatieff himself fully exercises every day.

  3. test

    • “… as a responsible public official, I will accept what the security services say on M.r Galloway.”

Sensible Mr Ignatieff! However yr last statement says it all really. We’ll never know, Kenny’s flunky says “that’s private”! Convenient for Kenny and his merry band of tools. It’s only Galloway you say! Really! Was Ayers here to pump up the terrorist jam too?
I’m sick and tired of pols hiding behind this mis-used law. Don’t care you say! – wait till a new liberal govt bans yr favourite Rep. flavour or the month. This crosses partisan lines – except that is in Kenny’s teeny tiny partisan political brain.

      • er..Kenney.

  4. Though I really would like to see the evidence that Galloway is in any way a security threat to the country

Well, it doesn’t meet the standard of “evidence”, but Ezra Levant on his blog claims he’s been advised that Galloway’s speaking engagement at a Toronto church was in fact to raise funds for Hamas, a terrorist organization banned in Canada.

If true, then game, set, and match. He has no business coming here if his intention is to commit a crime.

    • John, you must admit Ezra is hardly an objective source for pretty well anything. If he told me judgement day was tomorrow, i’d still book my summer holiday. We deserve to hear something fom the security people; if they have the goods on Galloway – let’s hear it. I suspect it;s yet more guilt by association; not to say Galloway’s innocent. Besides if he’s going to raise funds at that church, let’s arrest him here. Levant hasn’t passed an honest unbiased thought through his partisan brain since he abandoned rompers – last yr! :)
