Ignatieff starts whirl-wind (pre-election?) tour

Liberal leader will hit 20 ridings in 11 days

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff will visit 20 ridings—all of which are held by rival parties—over the course of a 11-day tour starting today. Ignatieff hinted in December he could force an election this spring. One strategist told CBC News Ignatieff¹s new message is simple: “If you vote NDP or Bloc to send Harper a message, you get Harper.” Among the tour stops are Winnipeg South, Richmond, B.C., Acadie-Bathurst in New Brunswick, and a Bloc-held riding in Montreal.

Ignatieff starts whirl-wind (pre-election?) tour

  1. I think there's a tiny edit needed here:

"In what is surely the political equivalent of rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff will visit 20 ridings—all of which are held by rival parties—over the course of a 11-day tour starting today."

There, that's better. Well, funnier at least. Bon voyage!

    • Hey, be nice. Mr. Ignatieff is showing signs of life, and is putting some effort into getting his party to show the same. This is what a politician is supposed to do. Plus, added bonus, he is offering a useful service to the country:

“If you vote NDP or Bloc to send Harper a message, you get Harper.”

This will go a long way to quell the "65% voted against you, you illegitimate so-and-so" nonsense we have enjoyed for lo these several years.

      • Yeah, you're right. No politician should be criticized for getting out and pressing the flesh, meeting and talking to people. But the Titanic line… it was organic… it just seemed so natural it had to be added.

So, you think he'll take a bus?

        • Q: So, you think he'll take a bus?

A: Among the tour stops are Winnipeg South, Richmond, B.C., Acadie-Bathurst in New Brunswick, and a Bloc-held riding in Montreal. Only if he never actually stops at the tour stops. But who does he trust for a mechanical inspection before setting out?

      • How many times has this been tried by the Liberal party in the past….5,10. It didn't work then and it will not work this time. Remember Layton and his lend me your vote. It didn't work either.

  2. Iffy would be wise to visit the Liberal ridings and try and save a few.He has been a disaster for the Liberals.the only reason he has not been dumped is no one wants that Red Bob Rae in the leadership role.

  3. The only news the libs can muster is that iggo is campaigning? Pathetic.

  4. Ignatieff is better travelling the country. While in Ottawa he acts like a fool so better to have him on the road where everybody can ignore him.

    • You are right, the dude s a fool.

  5. I hope American Iggo has his checkered shirts and Quebec made cowboy boots all packed and ready to go, now that he's back from vacation in Europe and wants to pretend that he's just a regular Canadian dude… again. Get ready to be dazzled Canada… Ha, ha, ha. " A vote for the Bloc or the NDP is a vote for Harper"? Nice try Iggo, a vote for the Separatists or the NDP'ers is a vote for the "Liberal" led coalition of losers and you know it.

  6. Just a waste of gas, money, resourses and a lot of pollution created for nothing.Stay at home and use Skype.

  7. Why don't the Liberals try and find a leader that's not a complete douche, they may actually attract some voters. Oh wait. That's why.
