It’s Danny’s opposition that lacks a heartbeat

Newfoundland’s Williams sits at 80 per cent in poll

Newfoundland’s Danny Williams and his Progressive Conservative government don’t appear to have been adversely affected by his decision to fly to Miami last month for heart surgery. A new tracking poll by Corporate Research Associates, the only firm that regularly plums voters intentions in Newfoundland, pegs support for Williams’s ruling PCs at a staggering 80 per cent, up from 77 per cent last month. An even more dominating 93 per cent of Newfoundland voters are satisfied with his government’s performance—the highest approval rating CRA has registered in two decades of polling in Atlantic Canada. Not quite flatlining, but nearly, Liberal support stands at 15 per cent and the NDP at five per cent.
