Interpol issues warrant for arrest of the WikiLeaks founder on rape charges
Interpol has issued a “red notice” for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, effectively adding him to their most wanted list. This comes after a Swedish court approved a motion in mid-November to have Assange, who is suspected of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion, brought in for questioning. Assange, whose whereabouts are unknown, denies the charges, which stem from sexual relations he admits to having with two women in Sweden. Mark Stephens, his British-based lawyer says the sex was consensual, and the two women only turned on his client when they learned he was sleeping with someone else.
