Justin Bieber’s bad couple of weeks got even worse Thursday when the singer used his photo-sharing account on Instagram to post a rant about the media, which also made disparaging comments about Lindsay Lohan.

Though the rant has since been edited to remove the bits about Lohan, it read:

Everyone on my team has been telling me, “keep the press happy” but I’m tired of all the countless lies in the press right now. Saying I’m going to rehab and my family is so disappointed in me. My family is beyond proud, and nothing’s been said by them, my grandparents wouldn’t know how to reach out to the press even if they did want so that was all a lie and rehab cmon. If anyone believes I need rehab thats their own stupidity lol I’m 19 with 5 number one albums 19 and I’ve seen the whole world. 19 and I’ve accomplished more that I could’ve ever dreamed of, I’m 19 and it must be scary for some people to think that this is just the beginning. I know my talent level and i know i got my head on straight. I know who I am and who I’m not. My message is to believe. My albums could be about everything but my messages have been to never say never and to believe, not to believe in me, but to believe in yourself .. I honestly don’t care if you believe in me because I believe in me, and look where that’s gotten me so far .. I’m writing this with a smile on my face and love in my heart. Letting you know first hand how I feel rather than have these stories linger. I’m a good person with a big heart. And I don’t think I deserve all this negative press I’ve worked my ass off to getwhere I am and my hard work doesn’t stop here. I’m growing up, finding myself while having people criticize me every day I think I’m doing pretty damn good. And to those comparing me to Lindsay Lohan, take a look at our 2012 tax statements ;)

Bieber shared the link to the rant on Twitter, where he has nearly 36 million followers.

The rant is the latest in a string of bad publicity for Bieber, who is currently on tour in Europe.

Since his European tour began, the teen star was kicked out of a nightclub on the 19th birthday, started a show in London nearly two hours late, collapsed on stage at another London show, fought with photographers and cancelled a show in Portugal.

  1. Yet another reason child stars need help transitioning to adulthood because he’s turned into yet another example of one gone down a dark path once his fame dries up. Poor guy

  2. Who is he?

  3. He’s not dissing Lindsay Lohan, the public is using her name to try and compare him to her. There is no comparison and its time for the jealous public to leave this kid alone. You are bullying him and he doesn’t deserve it! He’s very successful, hes Canadian and we need to be proud of our youth, no matter who they are. Grow up media and the public in general and let the young man get on with what he does best, music and entertaining.

  4. i know where he is coming from.

  5. I am glad he is starting to comment on these stupid articles. These people writing the lies hide behind the constitution to ridicule and bully celebrities. It is fine to say it goes with the territory but my god how far does it go. The degrading stories about bieber and many other child stars is disgusting. I would bet they are all laughing and bragging how they made him comment on their stories. Pretty sad people and I have to wonder if it was a relative of theirs if they would feel the same. The kid has worked hard to get where he is and should be given respect not bullied. I have to wonder if the founding fathers meant for the journalist protection, in the constitution, to protect people who knowingly print false stories. I heard the best joke today. Hollywood life claims they employ journalists. ha ha ha

  6. was there a typo? other outlets are quoting it as “take a look at her 2012 tax statements” while I see here it says “take a look at our 2012 tax statements”.

    • It’s been totally edited. The first one was talking bout how she’s a loser, not him.

  7. In the age of political correctness, stating your true feelings is a meltdown? Nice twist by the press. Thats hardly a negative comment about Lindsay. No wonder he wants to set the record straight. Most of us were passionate about the truth in our late teens and twenty’s.

  8. Why is this a meltdown? Just sounds like he is sticking up for himself against the out of control press.

    • Without that “out of control” press, he’s a wannabe rapper in Stratford.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

  9. It’s refreshing to see some of the comments here – people coming to the same conclusion as myself. I’m an adult, not a teenie bopper, and not some crazy cougar either lol….but I have to say I feel sorry for the kid, he seems like a pretty good kid with a good head on his shoulders (know if you want to make fun of him for they, go ahead), and hell, if he is considered having a “meltdown” for the minor things they are reporting on, well, most of us “my age” late 40’s should have been charted off to the looney bin lol. And I wasn’t even considering an “bad” kid. So I don’t really get what all of the fuss is about. Looks like he is acting his age (and in some cases more mature than his age). The bullying is terrible, and to think it is the adults joining in on it is rather concerning.

  10. Sinatra was notoriously thin skinned and had a very tumultuous relationship with the press. But then again, I think Sinatra was a better singer……..

  11. Think you need a break JB

  12. Kids no longer a kid. He is an adult now and has to accept the responsibilities of his actions. He choose to pass over his childhood for the glory of fame so now is not the time to act like a child. Unfortunate as that is for him.

  13. Given the text of his ‘meltdown’ I think I’m beginning to like Justin Beiber…

  14. I see NOTHING wrong with what Bieber wrote and EVERYTHING wrong with the negative spin and headlines superimposed on it by media persons.

    • I agree. I personally think too that there is nothing wrong with what Beiber wrote.

  15. I don’t see a meltdown whatsoever. I’m not a big fan but he seems like hes had to grow up quick and just wants to tell it how it is. Instead of the news giving us some bullshit story. I respect that. Ain’t no meltdown its just real.

  16. Macleans only wishes it could have 36 million followers. Since when did it become a TMZ style rag? In an odd way, this story is synonymous to the papparrazi chasing the kid down the freeway. Clearly the kid wants to keep the press out of his personal life. I’d think Macleans would have the decency to respect that.

  17. Where is MacLean’s response here? Where is the accountability of the press? I am by no means a Bieber fan, but come on, the comments overwhelming illustrate the characterization in the article’s title is completely false. Retraction?
