American travelling around the globe reportedly caught in turbulent waters


A rescue operation has been launched off the coast of Madagascar in search of a 16-year-old American sailor who’s gone missing in the Indian Ocean. Abby Sunderland is believed to have triggered the emergency beacons on her boat after running into turbulent waters about 400 miles from the nearest boat. Sunderland started her solo trek around world in January despite warnings that the trip would take her through the Southern Hemisphere during winter.

  1. I hope this girl is found safe and sound however hopefully she or her family will be charge the full cost of the rescue expenses. As a taxpayer I am more that tired of folks who want to become famous and then wealthy through book deals, speaking engagements or product endorsements and when the expedition falls apart we are left to pay for their rescue. After which they likely reap rewards anyway even though they failed. These people should be required to purchase insurance that will pay for their rescure if and when it is required.
