Oxford breaks ties with Tory student organization over racist jokes

Association boasts Margaret Thatcher as its patron

An Oxford University student organization of Tories, which claims Margaret Thatcher as its patron, has been ordered to disassociate itself from the prestigious institution after members told racist jokes. The Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA) landed in hot water in June, when student politicians participated in a competition to determine who could tell the most prejudiced joke. For its part, the OUCA claims the incident was a misunderstanding, and maintains that it condemns racism. But the organization has since been banned from using the Oxford name, and recruiting new members.
