President-Elect Barack Obama

Bobby Kennedy called it 40 years ago. At last, America can now hope for the more perfect union. This is history in the making and a great day for equality and humanity. Enjoy it.

President-Elect Barack Obama

  1. Sadly the campaigns were too dirty for me to feel anything about Obama’s victory. A tired American Dream revived, it is so impossible and irrelevant for the most part, that dream. The great mobs of people listening to a good orator in Obama, those numbers represent a desperation in the American people. I hope he doesn’t do more harm to them. The substance of his promises didn’t inspire me. And there is nothing new about the 44th MAN to hold the job.

  2. I never really believed a black president could happen in my lifetime.

I was six months old when Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon. My father sat me in front of the TV to watch it, knowing I wouldn’t remember but wanting me to witness it, anyway. Such was the importance of the event for that generation.

This is my “man on the moon” moment, only it’s more significant, in more ways than I can begin to articulate.

Politics and judgements of the man aside, this is a good day for humanity. There haven’t been enough of those in recent years, so let’s just enjoy this for at least a day or two.

  3. Dear Mr. Barck Obama

Greatly appreciate your providing me the postal address of yours so that I can send you a personal letter as e-mail are not the medium for expressing persoanl feeling.

All the best for the next 4 years and an extended term of another 4 so that you can take the US to a new milestone which everybody will remember.

Look forward to receving you postal address so that I can express my views in a broader way

    Sincerely

  5. Wow. For the first time ever, I kind of believe the USA might just be the greatest nation in the world. This was indeed a “man on the moon” moment.

Good for them for overcoming their prejudices and electing the right person. Now let’s hope he can bring about the change he’s promised.

Congratulations Obama, Biden and well, the USA!

Thanks for this blog John. Very enjoyable.

    Money and the ethnic vote.

  10. “Money and the ethnic vote.”

    Ah… that old chestnut.

  11. Scott B:

    Not quite yet, but soon.

  12. John,
I hope this is the same John I met at THE Obama Rally in Manassas Virginia! We did it!!!!! I shed tears of joy Tuesday night. I was so proud of my county, Prince William, and my state, Virginia, that finally divested itself of its remnants of bigotry. We did indeed “fire it up” and we were “ready to go” ! Please tell Pierre I say hello and what a joy it was to meet all of you!

To those of you, in enveloped in your cloak of cynicism, believing it was only about money and an “ethnic” vote, I can tell you, first hand, without the votes of independents and republicans I know, Barak Obama could never have passed the finish line.

  13. pls. give Mr. Barack Obama postal address

  14. Speaking of Barack Obama:

Barack Obama is a racial-minority individual, and he inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.

George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).

George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.

Many people know what Bush did.

And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.

    Bush was absolute evil.

Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.

    Bush is a psychological prisoner.

Bush has a lot to worry about.

Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.

In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.

  15. obviously, obama lover's have no idea what they are to expect, nor do they know a civil reason why they had voted for him. From a republican's observation, it would be to me that he was voted for simply because he is a black man. No, I am not racist, nor would i vote for someone solely because they are republican. I would have voted for someone because of their views, and ideas to change America. In Obama, however, I do not see how he plans to change this country. Also, I do not feel that he will succeed.

  16. You may call me stupid, blind, whatever…but i am being true to myself, my beliefs, and my personal opinions, just as everyone else is. Tell me why Obama had said no to legalizing marijuana? Especially in such a brief manner. It just shows me that he won't hold up to anything he says to us when he claims that he will consider it with a million votes, when there were over 3 million. With such a brief statement on it, i feel it didn't matter to him to consider legalization of Marijuana.
Before you go calling me a pot head…I DO NOT smoke marijuana, but i feel that it would help the economy. Also, why is it that marijuana is an illegal substance, and people call you a druggie when you smoke it. Yet, alcohol is legal and it is a drug that can potentially KILL a person. Marijuana does not kill. I wish i could get this to obama somehow, it is quite ridiculous to me that someone who claims to want to help the economy doesn't consider all solutions.
