Real Madrid to pay £80 million for Ronaldo

One of the superstar’s first games with his new team could be in Canada against the TFC

Christiano Ronaldo, the sublimely-talented about supremely-sucky soccer star, is set to become the sport’s most expensive player ever. Real Madrid, which has been seeking to add him to its roster for years, will pay £80 million to Manchester United, his current club, for his rights. And if the deal goes through (there is a June 30 deadline) one of his first games for his new club will be in Canada. Real Madrid is playing TFC in a friendly on Aug. 9.
