Film director Roman Polanski has been denied bail from the Swiss prison where he is being held for possible extradition to the U.S. The Swiss justice minister refused the request by the film director, who fled the U.S. in 1978 while awaiting sentencing after admitting have sex with a 13-year-old girl, because of the risk he could flee the country. That appeal was separate from another legal challenge against his arrest submitted by Polanski’s lawyers last week. Under Swiss law, the U.S. has 60 days to file a formal extradition request.
