Three women from the Russian punk band, “Pussy Riot,” are now on trial for protesting Vladimir Putin on the altar of Russia’s main cathedral, says the Toronto Star.

Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, and Yekaterina Samutsevich face up to seven years in jail for entering Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral in masks, and calling on the Virgin Mary to “throw Putin out.”

The three women have been in jail since February, and face charges of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred or hostility.
