School for sharks

Sharks are cuddly, just like dolphins and sea lions

Experiments in the US conclude that sharks could be trained like dolphins and sea lions to obey basic commands, including cuddles. Certain varieties of shark have been shown to respond to teaching and can learn to answer to audible and visual signals. Sharks have never been trained this way before. At the UK’s Sea Life Centres the staff will begin to use techniques comparable to those used a century before by Ivan Pavlov to train dogs. They expect to see results in the smartest sharks within three months. The keepers predict that the welfare of the captive sharks will improve, as well as the ease of feeding.
