‘She’s a very timid girl, I never thought she would escape like that’

Teenage plane crash survivor is “doing well”

Bahia Bakari, thought to be the lone survivor of the Yemenia Airbus that went down on Tuesday with 153 people onboard (including her mother), is “doing well” and is reportedly heading home to Paris. Even though she can barely swim, Bakari, who suffered only a broken collarbone and cuts, is said to have survived the crash into the Indian Ocean by holding on to a piece of debris. According to her father, Kassim, “she couldn’t feel anything and found herself in the water. She heard people speaking around her but she couldn’t see anyone in the darkness. She’s a very timid girl, I never thought she would escape like that.”
