Lynn Tilton, is credited with saving America’s largest helicopter maker, MD Helicopters. She is so popular in the industry that at a recent convention, she was handing out signed, glossy photos of herself rather than her aircraft. Said one pilot, before hearing her name: “I thought she was a stripper.” Far from it. A Wall Street investor, Tilton has been quietly building her fortune since 2000. It’s now worth $8 billion. The helicopter company is just one of 70 she controls. The LA Times calls her “part Warren Buffett and part Dolly Parton.”
