If I had a time machine, I’d make my fortune off hipsters, selling them tickets back to 1950s Canada:

The Past is a Different Planet

  1. Foursquare, hipster market accommodation vs. exclusion.

  2. Wow. Bizarre accent. I wonder where she's from, exactly.

    • Our accents have changed over time – even listen to clips of Barbara Frum, she sounds kind of odd.

  3. Why show video when you can help Harper get his majority and show them the real thing?

    • i thought he was the nippy cheese

    • Zing!

    • Hate to be the one to break the news – but it was a Liberal PM during the 50's…..

  4. I like the image of Americans lining up for miles in their cars to get pizzas on a Saturday night.

And while I was watching clip I wondering if Canadians would have fallen for something like what the BBC did in 1957.

"The BBC has received a mixed reaction to a spoof documentary broadcast this evening about spaghetti crops in Switzerland. The hoax Panorama programme, narrated by distinguished broadcaster Richard Dimbleby, featured a family from Ticino in Switzerland carrying out their annual spaghetti harvest.

It showed women carefully plucking strands of spaghetti from a tree and laying them in the sun to dry. But some viewers failed to see the funny side of the broadcast and criticised the BBC for airing the item on what is supposed to be a serious factual programme.

Others, however, were so intrigued they wanted to find out where they could purchase their very own spaghetti bush."

  5. I feel like heading out to one of them Eyetalian Peat-serrias for a pizza pie.

    Maybe some iced cream afterwords.

  6. Aw, there was something absolutely charming about her.

  7. If you'll agree not to return the hipsters, I'll invest in your time machine.
