The Green Lantern is one of the few classic superheroes who doesn’t have a fixed identity: anyone who is chosen to wear the “power ring” becomes the new Green Lantern. So it’s somehow appropriate that Warner Brothers, which owns the character, is having trouble deciding between three different people who might take on his powers in the upcoming Green Lantern movie. Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds are all serious candidates to play Hal Jordan, the first Green Lantern from the comics. But after two screen tests for each actor (and several other actors who were rejected), the director, producer and studio each has a different choice, making it hard to pick someone before the deadline. The studio has taken so long to make a final call that its option on them has lapsed, and they are now all “free to accept other offers.” Stay tuned for the upcoming Green Lantern comic where the Guardians of the Universe can’t decide who should wear the power ring, and finally all the candidates just quit in frustration.
