Tory times aren’t tough times for bureaucrats

Not yet, at least

Sun Media goes digging through publicly available records of government salaries and discovers that — yes, the more senior the civil servant, the higher the pay grade — in fact, some, like Canada Post president Moya Green, could make even more than the Prime Minister when base salary and performance bonuses are taken into account. That may be about to change, however. Richard Ivey School of Business dean Carol Stephenson, who chairs the independent advisory panel on executive pay rates, told the Sun that this year’s report recommends that the government be “very prudent” in doling out performance pay and other perks. That’s unlikely to stop the National Citizen Coalition from rolling out an ad campaign later this month calling for spending and pay cuts across the board.
