Teen was caught in a downtown Toronto gunfight in 2005
Two men have been convicted of manslaughter in the death of Jane Creba, a 15-year-old who died after being caught in a gun battle between two gangs on Boxing Day in downtown Toronto in 2005. A jury found Louis Raphael Woodcock, 23, and Tyshaun Barnett, 22, not guilty of second-degree murder, but convicted them of manslaughter and four counts of aggravated assault each, the CBC reports. Six other people were wounded in the shootout that killed Creba, which happened on Toronto’s busiest street on Boxing Day. Two other men involved in the shooting were found guilty of murder and are serving life sentences; five others, including one youth, were acquitted, and a second person under 18 had manslaughter charges dropped. Toronto police Sgt. Savas Kyriacou said they were happy with the result. “On any given day on any given street … we should all have the right to feel comfortable and confident to walk our streets—and I think we do.”
