Will and Kate to spend Canada Day on Parliament Hill

Couple announce their summer visit

Prince William and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton have accepted Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s invitation to make a royal visit this summer. They plan to celebrate Canada Day on Parliament Hill. “Canada looks forward to welcoming the young couple this summer and providing them with all that our country has to offer—including, of course, the special hospitality and warmth reserved for members of the Royal Family,” Harper said in a statement. Their tour will span from June 30 to July 8 and will include stops in Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Ottawa, Alberta and the Northwest Territories. This will be Will and Kate’s first trip as a married couple.

  2. I wonder why the couple are not coming to '' British Columbia ? ''….Pity !

    • It is a shame, but it's a big country and they can't be everywhere. Nice to see there will be a "royal" two years in a row at the Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa. That would be a nice tradition to start.

    • It's going to be crazy in Ottawa on Canada day, this girl will have Diana effect all over again!

      • Agree…..Looking forward to the festivities…..

    • It might have something to do with William and Harry's mugging by BC teens the last time. If that would happen again, there will be a newly wed bride that will spend her honeymoon in a snit. I guess if they visit BC, it will be in secret somewhere in Whistler – a real honeymoon get away.

      • Good thinking… now I am happy again…….

  3. Can't wait to welcome their Royal Highnesses to Canada! It's a real honour that they chose the senior Dominion for their first official visit as a couple :)

  4. I wonder how much this will cost taxpayers…. And how much good that money could do, if it went to food banks instead.

    • So, uh, how much do YOU spend on stuff that could go to food banks instead?

  5. stay home we cant afford you

    • You don't pay for them.

    • A million dollars a day – that's what it costs to have these royals visit. I for one think we should have disassociated ourselves form Britain a loooong time age; cut the colonial umbilical cord, the sooner the better.

  6. Um … what are they convicted of? And, what is "gayboy" island. And, how do you know :) ?

  7. I can't believe I'm commenting on this seeing as I really don't give a toss about the royals, but isn't "Wills" the correct tabloid-newspaper-diminutive for Prince William, rather than "Will"?

  8. A million dollars a day – that's what it costs to have these royals visit. I for one think we should have disassociated ourselves form Britain a loooong time age; cut the colonial umbilical cord, the sooner the better. This is just Harper trying desperately to write himself into history………he and the royals are fine fit, all a prime example of self absorption.

  9. Hope the weather is great. This will be huge for tourism as the couple will be surrounded by media from all over the world.

  10. Thank goodness we'll be out of the country.

  11. I doubt that PM SH will call an election until the 'royal couple' have left Canada.

  12. Don't you mean 'Pharaoh', my lord?

  13. well at least they are cute… something to watch. expensive of course. As for royal stuff. i can't care less who they are
