Freezing a woman’s ovary would work better than egg freezing, and should be considered by young women who want to postpone motherhood, U.S. fertility expert Dr. Sherman Silber told the American Society for Reproductive Medicine meeting, the BBC reports. Women are more fertile when they’re young, and storing part of an ovary might yield as many as 60,000 eggs. Those who opt for several rounds of egg retrieval have to pay every time, whereas removing and freezing a section of ovarian tissue would mean just one procedure, he said. Around the world, 23 babies have been born from ovary or ovarian tissue transplants.
