The gold honours include:

Best overall companion website: macleans.ca, which you’re looking at right now.

Best tablet edition: Our iPad app, downloadable — naturally.

Best news coverage: From scandals in the Senate or Toronto City Hall to the wonders of orbit and the inner-workings of the Canadian economy — we work to go beyond headlines. Click a link to a news story, any link, and that’s part of our package.

Best use of social media: The Ottawa bureau’s daily broadcast and analysis of Question Period on Parliament Hill (before and after).

Best online-only article or series of articles: Sarah Lazarovic created an online sketchbook during the Toronto International Film Festival.  From on location, she tweeted sketches that turned into The Outsider’s Guide to TIFF.

Best infographic: Graphics mastermind Amanda Shendruk teamed up with Aaron Wherry to give readers an interactive look at the House of Commons. Wherry was also nominated for best blog.

Maclean’s won a silver award for best smartphone app: Our iPhone app.

The COPAs are a measure of Maclean’s standing among our peers in the online world, so to be recognized so many times in the same year is an honour. At the 2012 awards, the magazine won three golds and a silver, a team effort that spread across the newsroom.
