Eleven suicide attempts in the month of April so far. Twenty-eight recorded attempts in March. A tragic spate of suicide attempts has sparked a state of emergency in the remote James Bay community of Attawapiskat, drawing nationwide attention and government action. But this is the fifth state of emergency for the remote community in the last decade, and so the question lingers: what can be done to solve the crisis in the long-term?

At the request of NDP MP Charlie Angus, whose riding covers the reserve, the House of Commons will hold an emergency debate on Attawapiskat from 6:30 pm ET to around midnight. Watch the feed below.
