TORONTO – Toronto police say the widow of late Toronto mayor Rob Ford has been arrested and charged with impaired driving.

Const. Victor Kwong says Renata Ford was arrested at about 6 p.m. Wednesday as she sat in a vehicle in the parking lot of a west-end shopping plaza not far from her residence (Kingsway and Royal York Rd.).

Kwong says Ford was later charged with impaired driving and of having a blood-alcohol reading of over 80 milligrams.

He also says Ford was alone in the vehicle at the time of her arrest.

Kwong could not say when she would appear in court.

Ford’s controversial late husband was mayor from 2010 to 2014. He died of cancer in March at the age of 46.

  1. Leave her alone. She appears to be struggling with life as it is and we don’t need a media circus. If the Ford family had an iota of decency they would close in around her and support her.. After all, she is the mother of Ford children. That should account for something.

    • Unfortunately she can’t be left alone. That has been the problem for many years. She is unstable and an alcoholic and drug addict herself. When I heard that the CAS considered Rob the better parent a few years ago, I wondered who would take care of the kids. Then when Rob passed, Doug promised he would step in to help raise the kids. Maybe this is the time for Doug to step up to the plate.
