OTTAWA – Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. President Barack Obama have a couple of cases of beer riding on the outcome of the men’s and women’s games in Olympic hockey.
The Canadian and U.S. women are battling for the gold medal today, while the men meet Friday in a semifinal matchup.
Harper says on Twitter that he and the president have bet a case of beer on each of the games.
While Harper is a noted fan of hockey and has written a book about the sport’s early days, Obama leans more to basketball.
The Prime Minister’s Office says Harper and Obama agreed during their summit in Mexico that they would be watching both games closely.
An official says they disagreed, naturally, on who to root for.
