Quebec inmates among the world’s most wanted fugitives

Court documents suggest officials were warned about possible breakout attempt

MONTREAL — Three escaped Quebec inmates are now among the world’s most wanted fugitives.

And now, court documents suggest officials at a Quebec jail where the three prisoners made a daring escape by helicopter were warned a few months ago about a possible breakout attempt.

The documents suggest Quebec provincial police gave jail officials intelligence on a possible jail break conspiracy involving the three men.

The trio fled after a chopper landed in a courtyard on June 7th, scooped them up and took off.

After the escape from the detention centre in suburban Quebec City, it came out the inmates had been granted looser restrictions by a judge just a day before.

The three men are now the subject of an Interpol red notice list, which places the Quebec escapees among the world’s most wanted fugitives.
