Qatar has abandoned its effort to move ICAO from Montreal: John Baird

MONTREAL – Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird says Qatar has abandoned an effort to move the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization out of Montreal.

Baird says on Twitter that the Gulf state has withdrawn its bid.

Qatar had wanted to move the headquarters, starting in 2016.

The organization has been in Montreal since it was founded in 1947.

Qatar’s offer would have needed the approval of at least 60 per cent of the 191 member states.

  1. We as Canadians should get together and unite against these terrorist Muslims. 6 million Jews were gassed, burned and turned into soap and cement by the Nazis in World War 2. Never forget, terrorists come in all shapes and forms terrorists could be white Christian males or bearded Muslim men.
Support Israel and God will bless you. Should you despise Israel, God will punish you. Israel is God’s land and God gave us the land. The Palestinians are illegal squatters who desisted from moving out of God’s land.

  2. I’m suprised that the Prime Minister and other government officials are allowed to tweet. With the sensitivity of high ranking porfolios, I would have thought there would be protocols in place to guide external communications from our government representatives. Debra Gardiner.
