Aside from a glimpse of the royal baby himself, the talk of the town—and by town, we mean entire world—was Prince William and Kate Middleton’s choice of outfits for the debut of the future king.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out of London’s St. Mary’s Hospital wearing matching baby blues—Kate in a polka-dotted Jenny Packham dress and William in an oxford shirt, casually rolled up at the sleeves.

Whether accident or intentional, the significance of the colour was not lost on commenters. “The Royal Baby boy has made his debut—and mommy and daddy dressed appropriately for the occasion!” gushed Life & Style Weekly.

The MSN style blog Styleswept said, “Everything about the big reveal was perfectly choreographed. Every step, every smile—perfection. And the clothes? Well those were simply off the charts. William and Kate wore matching baby blue in honour of their newborn son.”

With such a cry about the hue, one can’t help but wonder what influence a girl might have had on it all:
