The escalator pitch: Where conservatives see Canada in 2020

We give delegates at the Manning Networking Conference 30 seconds to tell us where they see Canada in five years

Last year, Maclean’s asked delegates at the Canada2020 conference of progressive thinkers and doers—including Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne—where they see their country in 2020. They had 30 seconds on the escalator between the Ottawa Convention Centre’s second and third floors to make their pitch. As conservatives gathered at the same venue—since renamed the Shaw Centre—for the Manning Networking Conference on March 6 and 7, we thought it only fair to ask them the same question. Three young delegates joined Nick Taylor-Vaisey on the same escalator—and told Maclean’s where they’d like to see Canada in five years.
