BTC: And now a few words from her opponent

Conservative incumbent Dean Del Mastro on the issues.

On native rightsDel Mastro told the audience of about 50 people that the Liberal’s Green Shift carbon tax plan would violate their treaty right to not pay taxes to the federal Crown by putting a tax on everything.

On povertyThe carbon tax would drive up child poverty, Del Mastro said.

On employment“Mr. Dion thinks it’s a good idea to put people out of work. That’s why he’s championing a carbon tax.”

BTC: And now a few words from her opponent

  1. Del mastro is Italian for “of the master”–and Dean is certainly that. English translation; toady.

  2. if memory serves, doesn’t he drive a 1974 boat of a gas guzzling car? Not exactly a fan of carbon taxes I am guessing…

Seems he can’t make a case on actual facts either.

  3. The Green Shift is a major cause of male pattern baldness and impotence, and totally the reason the Leafs can’t win …

  4. Dean Del Mastro is an idiot, and to quote one of my professors at Trent “exactly the kind of MP Harper likes, parroting the party line without any thought as to what it actually means”. It’s a sad day when someone like Dean actually stands a chance of being re-elected.

  5. Seeing how the carbon tax will indeed increase the price of everthing including basics like food, how is he wrong?

  6. Del Maestro likes to deceive Canadians and pretend the tax credits and shifts, which go disproportionately to low income, do not exist. He also likes to pretend that cap and trade doesn’t similarly drive prices up and neither the Conservatives or NDP offer any compensating tax shifts. Both Obama and McCain propose tax cuts/credits to compensate for their cap and trade. Ironically, it is the NDP which would increase poverty. Clearly they never expect their cap and trade to see the light of day, which is why they ignore this fact.

  7. Yeah, really. Del Mastro’s embarrassing.

  8. He’s a used car salesman, literally. Would you buy a used car from him? Well, I wouldn’t, nor listen to his big, screaming mouth.

Says a lot about Peterborough if they vote this guy back in….sigh.

  9. “Mr. Dion thinks it’s a good idea to put people out of work. That’s why he’s championing a carbon tax.”

wow….. i actually think the CPC is more offensive then Bush Republicans when it comes to thinking that the electorate is stupid.

  10. You like to think, too bad it doesn’t produce anything.

  11. Too bad he’s not running against Goodale or Mark Holland. That would be an all-candidates debate you could put on pay-per-view.

  12. wow….. i actually think the CPC is more offensive then Bush Republicans when it comes to thinking that the electorate is stupid.

It’s always been waay more offensive in that respect. At least Bush hasn’t gone on record about hating America, as Harper did with Canada and Canadians.

  13. Oh my god what an ass…

In other news, Steamship Dean announced today the widening of the Trent Canal to allow cruise ships and liners to dock in Little Lake. Gavin McLeod and Fred Grandy were right there along with Bernie Kopel (strangely, dressed as Siegfried) in Del Crary park for the announcement.

  14. “Seeing how the carbon tax will indeed increase the price of everthing including basics like food, how is he wrong?”

“Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.” – Milton Friedman

When did the Conservatives become a bunch of Keynesians?
