I could have sworn that was Jim Flaherty sitting just a few feet in front of me this morning when the chair of the Senate finance committee assured him that they absolutely, positively weren’t going to “go on vacation” before passing the budget bill — they were prepared to sit all next week, if necessary! Yet there was the same Jim Flaherty, just a few moments ago, suggesting that those lazy, legislation-stalling Liberals were preparing to do just that. It’s almost as if he has his anti-Senate talking point primed and ready, and he’s not about to let the facts get in the way.
