Can’t stop, won’t stop

Brian Topp welcomes the establishment’s scorn

Brian Topp welcomes the establishment’s scorn.

… this text reminds us of the truth of the old mantra: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

Canada’s New Democrats have vaulted over Parliament’s separatists and over its reserve conservative party to capture the Official Opposition bench. So our friends (the folks used to running things) are going to stop ignoring us. They will shortly stop laughing. And then they’re going to fight. New Democrats should welcome this – it is how Canada’s entitled are going to inadvertently communicate to the people of Canada that the NDP is close to victory.

Can’t stop, won’t stop

  1. “In this country, first you get the money, then you get the power,THEN you get the woman.” – Tony Montana

    • Jack says, “Say hello to my little friends”

  2. “Second, this text reminds us that Canada’s establishment is sometimes untroubled by the verdicts or views of voters. Another example, as we’ve seen in Canada’s recent political history, of how power creates powerful feelings of entitlement. Elites and rentiers always believe that their privileges are their property.”

Wherry …. what are you doing!?!?! …. you are killing me again …. too mucking fuch this early in the morning to be reading Topp – the executive director of ACTRA Toronto – caviling against establishment, rentiers and entitlements. It is satire, surely.

  3. Well… he’s gotta say something in response to all the laughter right?

A hint for old Topp though: You don’t win because people laugh at you, or fight you or whatever.

You win only because you’re good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like you.

So… maybe your party should start working on the competency thing a little more eh?

    Just sayin’.

  4. People used to laugh at Harper, too. Most of them are now unemployed Liberal MPs

  5. I love how Topp described the Liberals as “Canada’s reserve conservative party”.  If only.

    • Yes, the conservative party that brought in the NEP and FIRA, and ran an historic election campaign on the banner of no free trade with the Yanks.  Got it, Brian.
