Don’t quit your Saturday-night job

Norm Coleman over Al Franken by 344 votes. There’ll be a recount.

  1. If he loses I hope he picks another state and runs against Ben Stein somewhere. A Franken-Stein contest next Hallowee’en would captivate the nation.

  2. Do you suppose they’ll look at every ballot? Or maybe just a handful of ballot boxes. Any unenlightened mathematician wizards from the ITQ threads care to comment?

  3. MYL – I admit that the very word “recount” now provokes a reflexive flinch. Please don’t make me research Minnesota election law, you guys.

  4. But we thought you loved that kind of thing, Kady.

  5. Recount.
    Ah! Quit it.

    Recount.
    Ah! Quit it.

    Recount.
    Ah! Quit it.

    Recount.
    Ah! Quit it.

    Recount.
    POW!
    Ow! Quit it.

  6. Being too lazy to research this, does anyone know if Barkley likely pulled more votes from Franken or from Coleman (or was it basically considered a wash)?

I’d hate to think that some darned third party candidate vote-splitter robbed us all of the chance of getting to see Senator Stuart Smalley!

  7. LKO, Star-Tribune exit polls suggest Barkley drew disproportionately from registered Democrats and independents. So you could say he was the spoiler, although if Franken had been a more appealing candidate Barkley would have been less appealing, if you see what I’m saying.

  8. At least, gosh darn it, he likes himself…
