‘Look to Jack Layton and the New Democrats’

The Toronto Star endorses the NDP.

The New Democrats have been reinvigorated under the leadership of Jack Layton. After Monday, they may well challenge the Liberals as the principal national standard-bearer for the roughly two voters in three who disagree fundamentally with the course charted by the Harper Conservatives. Progressive voters should give them their support on Monday.

The Montreal Gazette, Kitchener-Waterloo Record, Hamilton SpectatorVancouver Province, Ottawa CitizenVancouver Sun, Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald and Winnipeg Free Press endorse (to varying degrees) the Conservatives.

‘Look to Jack Layton and the New Democrats’

    • I think it's pretty cool that a news-source is so open about their ideological leanings. It'd be nice if all news outlets — around the world — were required to identify their ideological/political leanings. It would at least give the impression that those who "operate" the news were capable of thinking about how they affect the news. :-)

      With Love and Gratitude,

      Jeremiah

  1. "Clinic"

To the average Canadian the term conjures up, clean sterile surfaces. Medical professionals in lab coats.

When the leftist legacy media, in parroting the bawdy house story as a smear, describe the place Jack went to as a…

    "massage clinic"

do you think the public is unable to view the disgusting hole themselves now on video?

Do they not think that the public can now watch Sun TV with their own eyes and determine for themselves who is being more accurate: Sun TV or the leftist legacy media, describing the well known "low track" bawdy house, as a "clinic"?

For fun, google Layton massage, read the "clinic" "smear" take by the legacy media, then check out the video of the place and the Sun TV report.

The only one engaging in a dishonest smear appears to be the leftist legacy media, desperate to cover for their new preferred leftist candidate.

    • You are entering desperation territory there Chet……Lovin it!

    • Can you imagine if the media found out something similar about Mr. Harper? It would be on the CBC round the clock….more of the pinko commie media bias in Canaduh.

      • We've found something worse if the Government of Harper is the author of this (strangely-timed) smear.

Time to vote NDP for sure now.

    • .
Who authored this smear? Vladimir Putin?

The 2 major parties are sure employing some low-life.
      .

    • Agreed, chet. The only reason Harper isn't polling over 50% is the leftist cabal media. Their smear campaign on that dude has been brutal. Some guy on this site called your post desperation. I call it the truth.

      • "The only reason Harper isn't polling over 50% is the leftist cabal media."
Sarcasm right Arturolexo or do you think the Toronto Star is the most influential paper in Canada by a country mile?

    • Chet if Layton's actions disgust you you don't want to KNOW what your Conservative MPs and Senators get up to on the streets of Ottawa.

    • Well chet, the cops say he did nothing wrong.

I trust the cops- bloody shame you don't.

Don't you even like the police chet? They do a really tough job and it's hard when cop-haters like you come out swinging. They have families chet- families with kids to feed and here you are slagging them.

      Disgusting.

      • Actually, the police didn't say he didn't do anything, they said they didn't catch him the act. He was sprawled out naked in a whore house a 9:30 at night, and a 20 something year old Asian women was caught leaving the room with soiled Kleenexes. It sure sounds to me like he went there to have a hand job: he's a fake.

Mr. Big Shot is going to be PM? I guess that is a little premature eJackuLayton.

  2. This comment was deleted.

    • Haha, Sun TV? They're so right-wing biased it's not funny.
What you don't seem to realize is that anyone who would take Sun TV seriously are people who will vote for Harper anyway, regardless of logic or reason.

    • Where is the video of the "disgusting hole" you described?
This video just shows the outside of a small brick building now occupied by Dr. H. Lim, a dentist.

      • My apologies to Dr. Lim if that's where Mr. Harper and Mr. Putin plan their smear-campaign. Must have been some other place.

    • Suitable place for Harper and Vladimir Putin to plan their smear-campaign. Did they enjoy themselves?

    • Oh chet, if you actually checked out the Google street view, you'd note two things:

      1) The lower floor of this building is a dentist – legitimate medical services were occurring in this building. To an unknowing passerby, to see medical services on the first floor, it's not unreasonable to assume legitimate massage was being offered on the second floor.
      2) This building looks like half the buildings in Chinatown.

  3. This comment was deleted.

    • Honey, I think you are getting a little too excited about this.

      • Sexual repression. It’s a major psychic force behind Islamic extremism, and it also drives the worst elements of the Conservative Party.

        • Exhibit A: Rob Anders.

          Exhibit B: Jason Kenney.

          Exhibit C: Pierre Polievre.

          Exhibit D: Vic Toews.

          And on, and on.

    • Unfortunately, unlike Gary Kasparov, Jack doesn't have the international standing to make this Putin-esque smear too risky for the major parties.

    • Actually, chet, it COULD have been the Liberals or Bloc who released the story. What would your narrative be then?

  4. Has the Star EVER not endorsed the federal Liberals? EVER?

What's more astonishing is that the paper went the extra step of kicking the Red Team while they are (way) down:

"His party's collapse in Quebec raises the question of whether it can truly be considered a national force at this point. Liberal governments built much of what is best about this country — but voters are sending a clear message that they don't feel they owe the Liberals anything for what the party did once upon a time. Nor do they believe the party has fully purged itself of the cronyism and corruption of the past. Elections are about the future, and the Liberals have not made a persuasive case for themselves as the alternative in 2011."

This is a big coup for Layton's campaign.

    • Wow, that’s stunning from The Star. I kind of feel sorry for some of my Liberal friends. Ignatieff did not deserve those attack ads. But you guys need to hold a policy convention and elect a new leader from the grassroots.

    • Yes, the Star has endorsed the NDP, the Liberals, and the Tories, twice. The Star is administered in accordance with the Atkinson Principles, just Google it.
The Star has endorsed the Tories twice before. The Star has endorsed the Tories twice before. I mention that three times, as you brain dead right wingers (I, myself, am a PROPER Tory), you right wing rocks and pebbles have a lot of difficulty entertaining simple facts that contradict your prejudices. Again: the Star has endorsed the Tories twice before.

      • You can say that again.

    • I believe that, in the 18th century, it was pro-Whig.

  5. As to the rest of it, this is the usual Con smear tactic….it appeals to prejudice and ignorance and outright religious hypocrisy….this kind of drive-by smearing is something we need to root out of Canadian politics.

    • I don't know how 'religious' this place was, but I bet you heard a lot of people were saying 'oh God!' quite a bit…

      • You would know? Nah, you just wish you knew.

        • Ask your mom.

      • It was registered with the city of Toronto, and properly run, so a mistaken police raid is triggering your vivid imagination….and your prejudice.

    • Why do we assume it was leaked by the Cons? The Dippers are threatening the Liberals with extinction – they have more motive to smear Layton than the Cons do.

      • Because it was announced by Sun TV….the very same crowd that just days ago wanted to publish a photo-shopped picture of Ignatieff in uniform and carrying a gun….on the front lines in Iraq.

It was given to them by Patrick Muttart from the PMO

        • That's your evidence? If anything, having it leaked to Sun TV makes it more likely the Libs were behind it. That way, not only does the story get out there, but the Cons will get the blame for doing so. Like I said, the Libs have a far greater motive to smear Layton than the Cons do.

          • It doesn't require any evidence….Sun TV has stated it openly.

The NDP is taking Con seats too, especially in BC….which is why Harper is running anti-NDP ads this weekend.

      • You folks know nothing about the Toronto media. Both the Star and Sun have revelled in publishing stories about Jack's "one rule for you, another rule for me" approach to politics for years. It was the Star that outted Jack and 'Livia when they were living in a rent-subsidized co-op (they weren't alone, half the NDP members of city council were doing the same thing). It was the Sun that reported Jack's fondness for using the City of Toronto's limousine fleet (Jack was the #3 user of the service, Pam McConnell – who's disabled – was #1). Covering Jack's hypocricies has always been good copy for the local papers. The Globe generally gave Jack a pass because it doesn't cover local issues very well and, let's face it, Jack moves in the same social circles as most of the Globe's editors.

        • I have no doubt that some police beat reporter at the Sun had the "Shiatsu Jack" story for years but could never make it newsworthy. (Apparently its been an urban legend in TO media circles for a while.) Now, with Jack ready to move into some really nice government housing, someone finally made it work. One thing's guaranteed, Jack won't sue. There's a retired cop out there who, apparently, has some fairly detailed notes. I'm sure he could provide some fascinating testimony.

  6. Stop picking on Jack…he was just trying to improve relations with the ethnic community. I wonder if he billed the provincial health plan for his specialist 'services'. LMAO

    • Who billed the culprits of this campaign? Vladimir Putin?

After this, what imbecile would vote for the puke-worthy Government of Harper now?

      Sick smear. Absolutely sick.

      • you believe it was the cons?…I am thinking it was the Liberals that dug up this dirt

    • It's going to backfire. People are tired of attacks Niceguy. One of the reasons I believe Jack has gained traction is because he is actually being a "Niceguy". Hope VS hate

  7. Time for Harper and his fake wife to move to the USA with his Republican Cronies…….he can build another fake lake..and they can all jump in it….. LOL
    Go Jack Go…
PS..wonder if Harper is paying His ex wife to pose with him for his promo pics…and if he will send out Christmas pics with his ex on them again this year ?
What a phony…..even his wife had the good sense to dump him ;)

    • what a bunch of BS…more lefty fiction

      • I bet you could find more cops to back that one up that the Layton story. RCMP anyway.

        • Hilarious! The irony of parliament high school gossip now seen as more credible than a police report, a confession of being at the massage parlour at that date and time, btw have you seen where he was at – http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jADvoHUpbgY/Tbyv6OMvtgI… . It's tough to judge a man for an event 15 years ago, but this story has some legs, and it is a legitimate question to ask of our former prime minister about what type of judgement he was using walking into this establishment 15 years ago.

  8. All these endorsements say basically the same thing. We don't trust Harper or his policies, think he;s has abused democracy but lets give him a majority so we can hold him to account in four years We like Layton but we don't really think he is capable of leading the country and some of his policies are concerning but maybe they can borrow some experienced and competent MPs from the Liberals to help run the government. Ignatieff is intelligent and the party has a proven record of fiscal management and for the most part we like their policies but since the voters aren't connecting with their leader and he hasn;t got a prayer in hell of winning we aren't about to endorse him. After much thoughtful consideration we would like you to know that this paper will be giving our tepid endorsement to the __________ party.

  9. Who's working for the Government of Harper now?

    Vladimir Putin?

At least in Russia people get to see videos of smeared victims.

But the real question is: Coming a few days just before election, how can staunch supporters of the major parties possibly have the stomach to vote for Harper or Ignatieff now?

This sort of smear against the NDP has left us with the NDP as the only option.
    .

    • As reported in Toronto Sun:
In total, the prime minister's expenses came to $281,255.67, compared to Ignatieff's $570,984.10.

Among party leader's, NDP Leader Jack Layton racked up the highest expense account despite being the leader of the smallest party. Layton billed taxpayers for $628,913.68.
      ——————————————
Another MP Olivia Chow expenses are: $530,304.73
So total NDP leader family expenses we paid are:$1,159,218.40
This family cares so much about vulnerable people but do not forget themselves.

      • WHat exactly is a "leader family"? Is that some new conception?

      • Wow, that may be the most misleading analysis ever. Jack's and Olivia's both include office and employee costs; Harper has the entire PMO–with a multimillion dollar budget–that absorbs those charges, and he still managed to spent an extra $130K on employees.
        http://www.parl.gc.ca/PublicDisclosure/MemberExpe

Is the Sun really stooping that low?

      • Stepehen Harper spent around 2 million dollars setting up a video production team specifically to follow him around and film any events so that he could have control over how it looks. I believe that fell under the PMO as well, but it was a new hiring of several employees.

This wasn't something for all of parliament, it was just for the Prime Minister.

    • What smear?
The facts are, Jack was there, his wife said he was there, the cops raided the place because it was a bawdy house, and they found Jack.
When Jack was asked why he was naked he did not reply.
The culprit here is Jack, and all you morons refuse to admit it and try to change the subject to shooting the messenger

  10. The thing that resonates with me about Jack and Olive, was their living in subsidized accommodation while they pulled their generous salaries. That's a kick in the teeth both to the taxpayer and the poor. It shows their contempt for all Canadians.

It's coming late in the game, but it is time that Mr. Layton be subject to the same scrutiny as the leaders of the other parties. He mostly got a free pass up to this point because no-one took him seriously. Folks who have decided to park their vote with him because they're disenchanted with the other parties, should find a more valid reason to vote for him.

    • They were living in mixed accomodation rita. Low income AND high income earners….it was an experiment to try and prevent ghetto housing. People paid according to their income, so Jack got no freebies.

    • Cripes that line of thought was debunked when I first moved to Toronto in 1988? 1989?

      Get with the program.

    • This smear-campaign against Jack is valid enough reason.

This is why journalists, et al, opponents of the corrupt Putin/Medvedev regime enjoy high standing, despite the sex-smear videos. Reasonable voters vote AGAINST the filth-throwers.

Therefore, I cannot in good conscience vote for the major parties any more.
      .

    • the housing subject i checked out its not true period done and is everyone who goes for a massage a crimminal gee i had three massages last year for a sore neck and yes the doors were closed with no windows and the massage person was a young lady and she did a great job and its a very physically challengeing job . and for the corporate right wing tea party facist tv net work sunn news too turn such a benifical treatment does not only smear jack but also the masseur is nothing short of disgraceful

  11. Go Jack Go!

All these smear campaigns and personal attacks only show one thing, that they are afraid of you.

    • It also shows he's got a thing for Asians.

      • He is running to become the PM, not pope. Who cares what he likes or not.

  12. Like most Canadians my stomach lurches when I read the comments here, and the Sun smear. Ugly and so like America's worst "news" and "birther" crowd.

    • The same would happen for the other parties.
All party leaders are subject to in depth scrutiny

    • Don’t worry, Kevin, they’re not real people expressing real opinions. More likely than not, all the moronic comments on this thread are all being penned by a single, paid PR troll with numerous online identities. Remember, Harper was a professional propagandist for the private health care lobby before he became a politician. He knows all the tricks, and uses them. You and me are probably funding these eye-poppingly ignorant “conservative” comments with our tax dollars. Lol.

      • Paranoia

    • Like most Canadians my stomach lurches when I read the report of Jack Laytons "massage" here, and the losers here attempt to divert the attention from Jack and call it a smear. Ugly and so like America's worst MSM "news" crowd.

  13. I am afraid at the number of welfare receipts our there who demand what I make to go directly to themselves. I guess they dont make men anymore. Ones that can provide for thier own families. Just Central Canadian lazy socialists. Be a man once in your life and earn what you get will ya?

    • Western bastard! Hope you enjoy your Conservative popcorn money.

    • Another ringing reason to vote for Harper. NOT

      • it seems a soon as the media report any little thing that might not look good for harper there leftist ,so they have too get there own media sunn that wont show any negatives against there fuhr harper for pete sakes i cant find one media outlet or news paper or talk radio that isnt slanted too the extreme right, plus ,not even cbc do you actually think peter mans bridge votes ndp give your red neck a shake

    • good point until some thing happens and you might need welfare then who will be squealing with his hand out ?

  14. Boy o boy when you've lost the Star…..This is, for me, the first real jaw dropper of the campaign.

Well, technically no- the first real jaw dropper would be the Sun dredging up a 16 year old non-story in the hopes it would find some legs.

    • I will agree that the first was a shocker.

But why did the second one suprise you

    • Some of us think it is a story, and has legs
If this story was about Harper or Iggy, you would make sure it had "legs"

  15. Wow the Harper paid-commenter squad is heavily active this morning!

Won't do you any good. People are tired of the mendacity of Harper and his circle of greasy lobbyist fraudsters. The Orange Wave is real, and your attempts to smear Layton will backfire hugely. Prank phone calls, lies, and more damn lies — that seems to be all the Harper clan is capable of. Just desperate thieves, is all.

    Go Jack Go!

    • Yuppers.

    • Yes everyone is sure pulling for Jack!! Long live the conservatives.

  16. Maybe Jack will also exclude GST from baby oil and kleenex sales??

    • How long did you work on that one?

  17. The fact that Jack lets people jerk him around

and we have no reason to think he does it back

    Makes him a nice guy.

    • With every comment, you Conservative smearers are driving people away from your party of scummy, immature, sexually-repressed fundamentalists.

    • Hey Nice Guy are you taking this act on the road after May 2?

  18. Who read Sun anymore anyways? It is not even a real paper, run by professionals. It is more like a paper filled with thre "old ladies" styles gossips and fits those who read it.

    • its there too promote right wing facism and corpartizm . and hate . just look at who they hired from talk radio

  19. Alright kiddies! You've had fun throwing stuff at Jack!

Now wash the filth off your hands before lunch.

    • Like the filth the attractive Asian woman had on the tissue?

  20. Really rita?
"living in subsidized accommodation while they pulled their generous salaries"
I take it Mr Harper has moved out of the amazing luxury of 24 Sussex while I was watching the polls sweep the NDP upward. And Mr. Ignatieff has left Stornoway.
Perhaps you feel this is an unfair comparison. That's your right.
Now Rita, I leave you as this next comment is only peripherally about you, and more to do with the horrifying bottom feeders that are pushing the massage parlour story.
OMG. What do you people not understand about the need to preserve an actual democratic process? It's your hate-minded grasping for power at any cost that is killing your chances at power in the first place. People aren't as stupid as you think. They see your attempts to dis-engage non-conservative voters for what they are: an attempt to hold onto power at any cost. But the cost is the democratic process itself. Can't you see that? Is your hate of anything different than yourselves so very deep that you simply can't respect the rights of others?
I don't say this easily but…you disgust me.

  21. I just can't shake the image of a naked Jack Layton lying on a bed with a hooker when the police kick the door in. Must have been priceless!

Normally, I don't think this story would have any legs. But so much of the NDP's recent gains have been because people liked Jack as a descent man. Some people, mostly female voters, will now be less likely to vote for Just Jack.

The real shocker in this story is the massive coverup the MSM has obviously been running for years. Andrew Coyne and Warren Kinsella have both admitted to knowing this story; in Kinsella's case he's known for years apparently. If those two knew about it, you know it was well known amongst the media class. And nobody with an ounce of integrity can't say that if these allegations were being made against PMSH that they would be considered a "smear" by the MSM.

    • .
This long-winded and carefully constructed smear-adjunct is almost credible.

Moving up from directing smear-videos, Mr. Putin?

You're just making Jack more votable, OK?
      .

      • Ya, and Slave-Gate made Ruby Dallah more electable, I'm sure.

    • Was he lying in bed with a hooker? Was she charged? Did you know that commenters on blogs can be charged with libel? If I was Jack I would root out every last one of you and charge you. It is disgusting that you can libel someone with baseless allegations from an unnamed alleged former police officer.

      • The allegations are not baseless. The incident was documented by police, and hasn't been denied by Jack or his wife, and has been known about many in the media for years.

    • The real shocker in this story is the massive coverup the MSM has obviously been running for years.

There are all kinds of "stories" that the media chooses not to run, either because the evidence is flimsy or it's nothing more than a personal smear. I'm sure there are more than few stories of a similar nature that would impact the CPC; in fact, I'm sure many of them would have pictures too. I can definitely imagine that an enterprising journalist with access to the gay scene in Toronto could write a real barn-burner of a story, if they wished. But they haven't.

The outrage isn't that the story was covered up for 16 years, it's that the Sun was such a transparent organ of the CPC, just days after they went to such pains to show that they were indeed, not.

      • SNN said from the start that they would report on stories the rest of the media was ignoring. More journalism is always better than less journalism. If you find them sleazy, don't tune in. But suggesting that they shouldn't run a story because the rest of the media decided against it is just bonkers.

The media in this country have constantly attacked Harper without basis. Do I need to remind you about Wafer-Gate? Completely fabricated by the left-wing media. There wasn't a single voice calling it "a baseless smear", when that's actually what it was. This accusation against Layton is backed up with evidence.

        • SNN said from the start that they would report on stories the rest of the media was ignoring.

You're absolutely right. I naively thought that meant they were going to actively seek out new stories and report on them, not run old stuff that everyone already knew. I suppose I should have gotten the hint when the first Ezra Levant segment referenced those cartoons!

        • The media have maintained a respectful wall of silence for over three years around the allegations that Harper and his wife have separated. And that's not the half of that story. Believe me. When two journalists dared to allude to it, the left-wing Toronto Star attacked them mercilessly. The media has also refused to out John Baird as gay, even though the guy doesn't even try that hard to hide it. The only time he was outed was by his own fellow candidate on the CBC, and yet, even then, the media have respected his right to privacy and not repeated it. There is tons of precedent for respecting all politicians' right to privacy. Harper committed "waifergate" in public. There's no comparison.

      • The cognitive dissonance that went into steaming pile of a comment is truly impressive .

        • Walk me through it, Bill.

  22. No more Taliban Jack…

    Introducing JOHN 'Tug' Layton!!

    • This is one of your strongest comments, by which I mean it's weak enough to provoke a strange mix of revulsion and pity for you.

Another commenter managed to offer "E-Jack-U-Layton", which was pretty good, especially since the rest of his or her comment was the usual brand of hyperventilating, poorly-typed, half-informed drivel. Which probably means at least he or she had the good sense to steal material from someone smarter. You might want to look into that strategy until you get up to your fighting weight.

  23. I am sure it was a smear because:
    – Jack is a touch old
    – The masseur used a kleenex

If she were environmentally concious she could have used half a kleenex.

  24. Getting back on topic. . . .

If you were an editorial writer for the Edmonton Journal, and were instructed to support a Harper majority in an editorial, but were personally certain this was not a good idea but wanted to keep your job, is this how your editorial would read? http://www.edmontonjournal.com/opinion/editorials

    • Only slightly less tepid than a cold cup of weak tea.

    • Hmmmm….no, I'm not convinced of that.

I read that as fairly firm support for a CPC majority, sprinkled with a recognition that a functional opposition side in the H of C is a very important feature of our government. Furthermore, ideally the opposition MPs would come from across the country, rather than just from certain regions.

'Highlights' from the editorial included this insightful observation:

It is common these days to attack the NDP by pointing to (now Liberal) Bob Rae's failure in Ontario in the early 1990s, but many critics miss the point by laying blame on left-wing policies. In fact, what brought Rae down was tough economic times, initial naivete and anger from the party's electoral base when it started taking small-c conservative steps to combat economic woes.

As well there were these other perhaps unintentionally revealing observations:

Already a Conservative Ottawa has done more to mesh the two agendas than the Liberals would ever have managed without stoking new waves of Western alienation.

For far too long, westerners have been driven by the Liberal ascendancy, and by flexible Quebec voters' canny ability to keep the politicians' attention, to feel relegated to national afterthought.

In a healthy European multi-party system, the natural thing would be for centrist Liberals to support the Conservatives if they win the most seats -but after the way the Conservatives have demonized the Liberals and Ignatieff personally, it's hard to picture them working together.

  25. Federal leader Elizabeth May and another Green Party of Canada MP or two could determine Canada's next government — a Conservative-Green Party coalition or a NDP, Liberal, Green Party coalition.
The Green MPs will choose the side that it can "coach" into passing the best environment protecting legislation. The price would include a Green Party environment minister.
Mother Nature finally has something to smile about.
    Rudy Haugeneder
    Victoria, BC

    • They need to win a seat first, Rudy.

      • If the green party entered into a coalition with the Conservatives, it would doom the party's small chances forever.

  26. The Gulf News U.A.E. endorses the NDP

"For the fourth time in seven years, Canadians go to the polls tomorrow in a general election. If opinion polls are to be believed, once again Canada's electorate will decline to give outgoing Prime Minister Stephen Harper enough seats in the federal parliament in Ottawa to form a government.

This election was called as a result of a no-confidence vote, brought about after Harper's Conservatives were found to have misled parliament over their spending intentions. In the past five years, Harper has shown he cannot be trusted. He has moved the nation to the right, forging close ties with Israel and shunning Canada's traditional role in supporting the oppressed Palestinian people.

Under Harper, relationships with the UAE have deteriorated to all-time lows. When Canadians cast their ballot tomorrow, they should look to a viable alternative as leader. Those opinion polls show that New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton is a credible alternative." http://gulfnews.com/opinions/editorials/canadians

  27. Looks like the left will ignore the fact that Layton admitted being in a whore house and still vote for him

Layton will get another happy ending – this time on election day!

  28. Someone had to go back 15 years to dig in the dirt find this smear!

My attitude ia as such, is that the best they can do? I am sure if we went back into the ancient history of Ignatieff and Harper we'd find some interesting stuff! Harper himself is a Bilderberger, that doesnn't excite me too much either!

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!

  29. I'm voting for Jack Layton:

To Spite the Sun Media Chain, for their obvious Yellow Journalism and Right Wing Bias
To Spite the Right Wing Ding-a-lings that have driven the agenda the last five years.
To Spite Steve Harper…..the Worst PM,in my lifetime….and I've been alive since The Chief manned Canada's helm.

It's time to take back Canada, from the Reform Party.

  30. "Whack-job" has to be one of the worst combination of words considering the context of the conversation – HA

  31. I didn't read who wrote the piece. Then I read "the principal national standard-bearer for the roughly two voters in three who disagree fundamentally with the course charted by the Harper Conservatives." and then, without looking, I knew. . .

  32. Whorehouse Jack gets a free ride from the media, how utterly predictable… Well at least we won't have to watch his… elect Mr. Peanut act anymore. PM Whorehouse Jack… Good Times.

  33. If Layton is too dumb to know the difference between a legit massage parlour and one that is used for illicit matters then he does not deserve to be prime minister.

  34. Mr. Wherry, you forgot the endorsement of Macleans editors. What an oversight.

  35. Why won't anyone ask Mr. Layton about his use of the term "community clinic"? Will such "clinics" be part of his proposed Medicare improvements.

  36. Velvet Touch – A Community Clinic – Who Knew???
Olivia Chow was quick to release a written statement, that husband Jack Layton indeed did attend a "registered massage clinic" and she was well aware of it and he "needed a massage" late in the evening.
Jack Layton, later at a rally in Burnaby, was quick to point out and clarify Olivia's comment, that in fact it was a "community clinic" (Velvet Touch) where he obtained his services. In trying to protect his political career, and in tune with the NDP philosophy, he felt it very important to stress it was a "community clinic" not to be confused with a private clinic. It was essential in the middle of this election, to inform Canadians, in order to solicit their support, he wouldn't be caught dead at a private clinic, where illegal, underage, Asian sex workers, would be employed by rip off artists, in the Canadian health care field – it would have to be a community clinic he patronizes – there should be no confusion. A good leader leads by example.
I wonder if Canadians becoming more aware of the fine details of the NDP health care platform and of Layton's expansion of health care services to include these "community clinics", help explain the surge in support for the NDP in this current election. Does anybody in the main street media have a better explanation for the NDP surge and why are they reluctant to discuss this NDP expansion of Canada's health services?
Why and how could the Toronto city police confuse a community clinic with a bawdy house?

Jack Layton, later at a rally in Burnaby, was quick to point out and clarify Olivia's comment, that in fact it was a "community clinic" (Velvet Touch -good name) where he obtained his services. In trying to protect his political career, and in tune with the NDP philosophy, he felt it very important to stress it was a "community clinic" not to be confused with a private clinic. It was essential in the middle of this election, to inform Canadians, in order to solicit their support, he wouldn't be caught dead at a private clinic, a for profit health care facility, where illegal, underage, Asian sex workers, would be employed by rip off artists, in the Canadian health care field – it would have to be a community clinic he patronizes – there should be no confusion. The reason that it was late at night that he was there, we would also assume was that he didn't jump the queue, but waited his turn. A good leader leads by example.
